Cappadocia Continued!

Apologies for having disappeared for a few months… this blogger was caught up with life which was more busy than usual for zillions of reasons these past few days… Anyways now I'm back and rearing to share more of my travels with my lovely readers. :)

Beautiful Cappadocia:

Aahh I will start by writing about the beautiful hotel that we stayed in. Melekler Evi - the house of angels, turned out to be truly a house of angels. It was breathtaking. The minute I saw the brochure I knew this is where I wanted to stay. Cappadocia is a historical area in Central Anatolia. Surrounded by mountains, Cappadocia is a tourists delight with its cave dwellings, underground cities, fairy chimneys and extraordinary historical and cultural heritage. Melekler Evi is distinctly Cappadocia. The minute you enter the hotel you feel like you've gone back in time, to an era of life in the caves. Gorgoeus and homely, it was one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in.

The Turkish couple Moammar and Aarzu had their hearts in the right place when they made this beautiful cave hotel (10 years ago now). 5 minutes away from the center of the city, you don't want to leave this gorgeous place even for the 5 minute walk into the city. The paradise room that we stayed in was very cosy, with a comfortable little sitting room, very simply yet aesthetically decorated and designed, it transports you to a different world the minute you step inside.

The bathrooms however are very much from this world and completely modern, which is another plus. The rooms are bright and welcoming so don't expect the gloominess of a cave, equipped with a sound system that shows the couple's fondness for music, and the quintessential fireplace. There is no television which just makes the experience more authentic. There are small terraces outside that you can sit and read on or have tea, undisturbed, reveling in the beauty of the mountains around you and the beautiful, cold weather. Quite romantic the whole ambience of this hotel and this city. Do not be perturbed by the small lane it's on because most Cappadocia lanes are tiny and this is a dramatically good thing in a small package.

In case you want a view of the valley and a better view of the mountains, you should try and get a hotel in Uchisar and not in Urgup where Melekler Evi is which is close to the city. And for fancier hotel options try Cappadocia Cave Suites or Cappadocia Cave Resort & Spa or Argos, but remember to book in advance.

Tip: Cappadocia is quite a cold place so pack warm clothes and check weather before you travel.
